Hi all,
Well sorry it has been a while since i updated but had loads of serious stuff going on regarding my parents who are both really poorly.
As a couple of people know Bobbie unfortunately died about a month after we got her, she was absolutely fine and had been fed the same as Lulu and Georgie, i came in from the kitchen after just seeing her sitting on her perch and when i came back a couple of minutes later noticed she was laying on the floor of the cage, she was dead but had only just died, she did have a slight sort of noisy breathing which Paula and ourselves had noticed, we wrapped her up and buried her in the garden, very worried as to how Georgie would react as they had been together in the same cage for 20 years!!!
Surprisingly Georgie has been a totally different bird since, she has come right out of her shell, she is more noisy, whistling and climbing around her cage like she never did before with Bobbie, she used to eat and regurgitate for Bobbie and just sit there on the perch not really doing much at all, just the occasional “YA WARM” and tap dripping noise, she is sooooooo vocal now and today said a different word for the first time “your Goooooorgeous”
She does funnily enough seem much happier without Bobbie!!! she is in her cage right next to Lulu so she has still had company, she is doing great and Lulu the little sod takes her off to a tee!!!
Hope that updates you all sorry it has been soooo long.
Les
Please did you get your Bobby from Alan Jones the bird vet if so I know her history I owned her for five years from a chick before handing over to him as she went wild on me.

Hi Sorry to hear about Bobbie and I have to ask if Georgie if he was always very quiet and not very active. Mine Charly since he had an accident on his breast bone at the age of only 6mths has been very inactive he is very vocal but dosen’t move or clime around the cage unless he jumps out of it, then he will climb up his ladders and back onto his perch. We have tried moving his food about so he has to go for it but we give in to him incase he gets hungry.
just wondering if you could give me any tips.
I am so sorry to hear about your “Bobby”, but much happier to hear about Georgie. Since you didn’t have a necropsy performed, what is your suspicion of cause of death? Curious since it was so sudden.
So sorry to hear about Bobbie, and I know she is so very missed by you. Fly free little Bobbie.
But am so delighted to hear the great news about Georgie and how she’s responding so well to you and has really become a wee socialite for you. Good luck to you all and my best wishes to Bobbie and her continued happiness.
I wonder if Georgie somehow knew that Bobby was ill? So sorry to hear about Bobby though.
Muffin oftens says the words slightly before i do like she knows in advance.
hugs
Hi Gill
Bobby was a rehome who came with Georgie and also a green wing Macaw called Penny not sure if she was the same one? she was about 18 years old? if so would love to hear more about her.
Thanks
Paula
Hi Rose
We had Georgie and Bobbie here with us for a month or so before they went to there forever home and Georgie was always quiet, she always fed Bobbie and would sit beside her at all times hardly played and was the same in her forever home with Les and his family, when Bobbie passed away Georgie came right out of her shell and now is very active so it was like she was her carer. As for your Charly does he climb out of his cage and sit on top of it or on a play stand? you can try putting the food out on that so he will climb out, he might just be happy sitting still, have you tried different toys hanging from the top to see if that will encourage him, he sounds happy chatting away, as long as he has his time out of the cage I wouldn’t worry to much just try and encourage him when you can, Thanks for your comment again
Paula
Hi Sally
Thanks for your comment, we had Bobbie here before Les and his family took them on for a forever home as they were a rescue, Bobbie had breathing problems when he was moved or got stressed it got worse, we had her tested for PBFD and all the nasty ones and they came back clear! Bobbie was 20 years old i think, the breathing seemed the issue and maybe a sunflower seed diet in the earlier years didn’t help. Thanks for your comment
Paula
Hi Patsy,
i think you hit the nail right on the head there, i am sure Georgie knew Bobbie was ill, she was always feeding her and cleaning her and sitting by her side, just like a carer would, she was a great carer too, it’s very sad she lost her mate but i am pleased she can be the active bird she is now and enjoy her new life with Les and his family and Lulu there Grey too. They are very clever so i wouldn’t be surprised if Muffin knew what you was going to say before you did! Thanks for your comment
Paula
Hi, yep i think Paula is 100% right when she says Georgie was Bobbies carer, she did everything for her, including feeding and cleaning, she sat by her side and didnt move, since Bobbie has died Georgie is a COMPLETELY different bird, she climbs all around her cage hanging upside down, she whistles loads now, talks much more often and has recently poicked up a couple of Lulus sayings, before she only very rarely said “your warm” funny thing if we open the cage she will climb out and climb down onto the floor and walk around rather than fly anywhere, she does fly if she has to but prefers not to, really attached to her now and she is very happily settled in here
